Entertainment… with a point.

Like Ben Stein? (”Bueller….. Bueller…..”) I do. And his newest movie (well… documentary), Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, is awesome. I didn’t get to see this at the movies (I wish I had), but I recently rented the dvd, and it was eye-opening.

The film poses the basic question: How has Darwinism (Evolution) become the “unquestionable truth” of the science world when there is no solid evidence for it and a growing amount of evidence against it? It is, after all, the theory of evolution, and scientist are supposed to change their theories as evidence begins to condradict them. Right?

Ben talks to several notable scientists both for and against the validity of Darwinism. We meet many scientists who were fired (expelled) because they dared to question the theory. We also see how the ideas of Darwinism played a part in some horrible historic events (remember the Holocaust?).

Now, for you evolutionists reading this. Don’t panic. The film does not question microevolution, but macroevolution (one species evolving into another, or amoeba-to-man evolution).

If you love science, history, intelligent discussion, or great debates you will like this film. It’s a must-see.

Gene Kelly

Just like every summer, TCM is doing its Summer Under the Stars movie marathon. Each day is devoted to the movies of a classic film star. Today… Gene Kelly. Quite possibly the best dancer in the world… ever.

This clip shows Gene tap dancing on roller skates:

Not only was Mr. Kelly an amazing dancer, but he could also sing and act. Great at comedy and drama. True talent. I just love his movies, and I love to watch him dance. It always makes me smile.

My thoughts
This was a shocker. I’d read he was in the hospital with pneumonia, but I didn’t read the entire article so I didn’t know how serious it was.  50 is so young these days. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Adam by Ted Dekker

FBI behavioral psychologist Daniel Clark has been stalking a killer known only as Eve for the past sixteen months. When he traps the elusive psychopath in a face-off, Daniel becomes the next casualty. But then he is resuscitated. After dying once, he’s got nothing left to lose in his obsession to stop eve. Or so he thinks.

My Opinion
Another brilliant book from Ted Dekker. Not what I expected. I don’t want to reveal too much about the plot, but it will get you seriously thinking about what you truly believe about the supernatural world.Great, realistic characters wrapped in a believable story that could happen anywhere in the world. A must-read.
